AGH University of Krakow is one of Poland’s leading technical universities, recognised internationally for its strong research profile in engineering, geosciences, and applied technologies. With a long-standing tradition of industry collaboration, AGH combines scientific excellence with practical problem-solving across the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
A key area of expertise at AGH is geotechnics, geomechanics, and ground stability analysis, particularly for underground structures and mining-affected environments. The university conducts advanced research on soil and rock behaviour, subsurface mechanics, and the assessment of stability and safety of complex ground systems, supported by specialised laboratories, numerical modelling, and field investigations.
Within the GrEnMine project, AGH University of Krakow contributes advanced scientific knowledge and analytical capabilities in geotechnical engineering and geomechanics, supporting the evaluation of ground stability, structural integrity, and long-term safety of gravity-based energy storage concepts. In addition, AGH is responsible for coordinating and implementing the project’s communication activities, ensuring the effective dissemination of results to scientific, industrial, and societal stakeholders.
Project Team

Michał Twardosz – Head of Communication – GrEnMine (AGH University of Krakow)
Michał Twardosz serves as the Head of Communication for the GrEnMine project, representing AGH University of Krakow. He leads the strategic communication, dissemination and exploitation activities across the international consortium.
As the coordinator of Work Package 7, he designs the project’s narrative architecture, ensuring that complex engineering and geotechnical research is translated into clear, structured, and impact-driven communication. He manages a network of Communication Officers across four European countries, aligning scientific results with stakeholder expectations and policy relevance.
His approach focuses on connecting technological innovation with real industrial and societal challenges, positioning GrEnMine not only as a research initiative but as a strategic response to the transformation of post-mining regions and Europe’s energy transition.

Laura Ruśkiewicz – Communication Officer – AGH University of Krakow
Laura Ruśkiewicz serves as the Communication Officer at AGH University of Krakow within the GrEnMine project, supporting the development of visual communication, digital assets and creative materials aligned with the project’s strategic narrative.
She holds both an Engineering and a Master’s degree in Technical Physics from AGH University of Krakow, combining analytical thinking with over a decade of experience in digital art, animation and graphic design. Her background bridges scientific reasoning and visual storytelling, enabling the translation of complex technical concepts into engaging, accessible visual formats.
Within GrEnMine, Laura contributes to the creation of graphic identity elements, animations, social media materials and dissemination assets, ensuring visual consistency across consortium activities. Her experience includes large-scale academic and science communication events, as well as long-term visual brand development for university units.
Her work strengthens the project’s ability to communicate advanced engineering research through coherent, experience-driven visual language.tion
