Georgios BazdanisScientific Responsible – Achlada Lignite Mines S.A.

Dr. Georgios Bazdanis serves as the Scientific Responsible for Achlada Lignite Mines S.A. in the GrEnMine project. He is a Mineral Resources Engineer (MSc) with a PhD in Environmental Engineering, specialising in mining technologies, geotechnical systems, and environmental management in extractive industries.

Within GrEnMine, Dr Bazdanis supports the scientific and technical coordination of activities related to mining sites, ensuring that the evaluation of gravity-based energy storage solutions is grounded in rigorous engineering and environmental analysis. His work focuses on assessing the technical feasibility, site-specific constraints, and environmental performance of proposed solutions under real operational conditions.

By bridging mining engineering expertise with environmental and sustainability considerations, he helps align industrial practice with the broader objectives of the energy transition and responsible post-mining land use.
