Poltegor-Institute is a Polish research institute specialising in opencast mining and associated engineering disciplines. The institute brings together a broad range of specialised departments and laboratories, delivering research, project work, and comprehensive technical services across mining, geology, environmental sciences, hydrogeology, and conveyor belt technologies.
With strong experience in applied research and real-world mining operations, Poltegor-Institute supports the planning, design, and optimisation of mining systems, while addressing environmental and hydrogeological challenges linked to large-scale extractive activities. Its interdisciplinary approach enables the integration of technical, geological, and environmental perspectives in complex mining and post-mining contexts.
Within the GrEnMine project, Poltegor-Institute contributes its expertise in opencast mining engineering, geological assessment, and environmental analysis, supporting the evaluation and adaptation of post-mining sites and infrastructure for gravity-based energy storage applications. The institute’s practical experience strengthens the project’s ability to translate scientific concepts into technically feasible and environmentally responsible solutions.

Marcin Maksymowicz is the Communication Officer for Poltegor-Institute in the GrEnMine project, supporting communication, dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities on behalf of the institute.
Poltegor-Institute is a research organisation with deep expertise in mining, geology, sustainability and innovation, dedicated to developing environmentally friendly and technically robust solutions for the mining sector and post-mining landscapes.
In GrEnMine, Marcin coordinates the communication of project progress and results, prepares outreach materials, and ensures clear dialogue between the consortium and external stakeholders, including industry partners, academic communities and the general public. He brings strong skills in public speaking, social media engagement and content development, which help amplify the project’s visibility across digital platforms and professional networks.
