VUHU a.s. is a Czech research and engineering company established in Most in 1953. Originally founded as one of the first organisations dedicated to addressing and documenting the complex challenges of brown coal open-pit mining, VUHU has built decades of expertise at the intersection of mining, energy, and environmental engineering.
Over the years, the company has evolved its profile towards a comprehensive portfolio of environmental, scientific, engineering, and laboratory services. Its activities include developing ecological methods for coal treatment and utilisation, and researching the use of lignite combustion and desulphurisation by-products to support more sustainable approaches to resource use and energy production.
Within the GrEnMine project, VUHU a.s. contributes its long-standing experience in mining-related research, environmental technologies, and applied engineering, supporting the development and assessment of solutions linked to underground structures, material behaviour, and sustainable use of post-mining infrastructure for energy storage applications.
